Patrol Division (OCPD)
Ride-along Protocol

Safety Precautions
The officer in which is assisting the ride-along needs to perform a thorough search of him/her and establish his/her eligibility to partake in a ride-along by checking their application status within recruitment ((By checking application on Epic Role-play forums)) to prove if the ride-along is an OCPD applicant.

The officer in which is assisting the ride-along must complete a field sobriety test, if and only if, the ride-along appears to be drunk and or under the influence. In that case, proper arresting procedure will be put into effect. The ride-along must also successfully pass a verbal mental exam, consisting of several personal questions that they must answer.

If they are suspected of having mental issues, you do not have to continue the ride-along instructional process and respectfully tell them so. Proper reception protocol must then be followed accordingly. You must also report the encounter with the officer in which accepted their application to ensure they are not inducted into the OCPD.

Signing the injury wavier
Regardless of who you are taking on a ride-along. An Injury Wavier needs to be signed by the ride-along which states that the division is not liable for any injury or the like caused whilst in your responsibility, thus we cannot be taken to court in such regard. It also states that they must remain in the vehicle at all times unless instructed otherwise.

Rank Authority & Ridealongs

In the event that an officer on duty wishes to take a ride-along through 911 request or the like and the ride-along is an official OCPD applicant (having been accepted within the recruitment process) then the following is applicable:

A Lead Officer and above wishing to take a ride-along as, before mentioned, does not need permission, but is required to notify the rest of the division before continuing with the process.

PLEASE NOTE: "Official OCPD applicant" refers to having an ACCEPTED application for a concurrent academy.

LEAD OFFICERS & ABOVE ARE TO R&U
