[Protocol] OC-MLD & Suspect Protocol [R&U]
Patrol Division (OCPD)
OC-MLD & Suspect Protocol
OC-MLD & Suspect Protocol
There is a concern for the lack of OC-MLDs' personal safety in dire situations and it is of now a mandatory protocol to be adhered to and supervised by supervisory officers.
This protocol ensures that if a unit requests or is requested by the OC-MLD, he/she is to not leave the scene of OC-MLD attendance where there is a shot suspect involved in a felonious crime or the OC-MLD official is operating in a known dangerous area. It is up to officers respective judgment on the amount of units necessary, or that of a supervisor however there needs to be police presence on the scene(s) of the above criteria.
The OC-MLD are also to be escorted, depending on the severity of suspect to the hospital and officers are to wait outside the hospital or inside the hospital respectively until necessary operations are conducted and the suspect is ready for transfer. Due to recent events of suspects injuring OC-MLD personnel in an attempt to escape after surgery at the hospital this is of an increase concern both by the OCPD and by the OC-MLD.
Criteria determining if officers are to stay on scene:
- Suspect committed a felonious crime (Armed / attempted murder etc.)
- Area of OC-MLD call out (Gang orientated, a lot of bystanders, known shootings in area etc.)
- Supervisory discretion / Officer discretion
This protocol is of immediate effect, and is to be enforced strictly by supervisory personnel. Failure to adhere to this protocol is in violation of 'Failure to adhere to protocol' and suspension - worthy. Command / High Command urge all officers to adhere to this protocol and to ensure OC-MLD personnel are safe when called out by officers respectively.
